West Indies won the fifth and final T20 International against India
In a thrilling encounter on Sunday, West Indies won the fifth and final T20 International against India and sealed the series with a 3-2 win.
The match took place in Lauderhill, Florida and West Indies chased down the target of 166 runs with 8 wickets and 12 balls to spare.
The star of the West Indies innings was opener Brandon King, who scored 85 off 55 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes. His partnership with Nicholas Pooran, who contributed 47 off 35 balls, proved crucial in sealing their victory.
Earlier in the match, India elected to bat first but found themselves restricted to a mammoth total of 165 for 9.
Suryakumar Yadav was the top scorer for India with 61 runs from 45 balls, while Tilak Verma added 27 runs from 18 balls. Despite their efforts, the Indian batting lineup struggled against the West Indian bowlers.
For the West Indies, Romario Shepherd took four wickets for 31 runs in a brilliant performance. Akil Hossain and Jason Holder also left their mark by taking two wickets each.
After India's emphatic nine-wicket win in the fourth T20I, the series was level at 2-2, setting the stage for an intense decider.
Unfortunately for India, they could not maintain their momentum and West Indies showed their prowess in the shortest format of the game and eventually secured the series win.
Romario Shepherd's exceptional bowling earned him the Player of the Match award, while Nicholas Pooran's consistent performances throughout the series earned him the Player of the Series award, scoring a total of 176 runs in five matches.
